![]() ![]() Tomb Raider: Underworld Interview and Screenshots As she attempts to unravel the secrets behind these myths, Lara’s perilous journey leads her toward a forgotten power that, if unleashed, could lay waste to all civilization.Īdd To: My Games| My Wishlist| Now Playingīrowse All "Tomb Raider: Underworld" Leaderboards In an ancient ruin on the floor of the Mediterranean Sea, Lara Croft uncovers proof of the Norse underworld and the mythical hammer. For more than a thousand years it has existed only as a myth.until now. Legend holds that Thor’s hammer had the power to smash mountains into valleys and to destroy even the gods. But in some television sets, some areas were an eyesore if you didn't turn it up.For generations, stories have been told of the fearsome weapon of Thor, the Norse god of thunder. Personally, I try to avoid setting the brightness up since the colors fade out and I prefer darker levels. There is a difference between intentional shadows and pitch black levels that detract from any form of progress. On my default tv, while still dark as it was meant to be intentionally, I had no problem making progress considering I could actually see where I was going. I played TRU on two different television sets and on the Sony set, it was nearly impossible to see anything in the underwater sections. There is a difference between blindness and atmosphere. Not when the PLS even fails to help and you simply cannot see where you are swimming. How much light do you want there to be in the Kraken room? It's a room that's in a temple buried in the sea bed of the Mediterranean. What are people turning the brightness up for? The game's meant to be that dark you dolts. With the PLS on, I didn't have a problem. I've played Underworld on PC and 360 and had to use the PLS on both versions. Just thougt I might share this, anyhow turn that brightness up!! WOW what a big difference - they said both games tend to look very close thanks to the scaling of the Xbox 360 Has full ani-aliasing 4x4 on all surfacesīetter framerate and motion blur on Lara's movements Less complex shadows, less sharpness on fine details Xbox 360 has - Lower resolution, the same as Legend, not full 720pĭarker overall graphics, leading to environments bleeding into More complex shadow technology and a blur filter for the jaggies. On they have a comparison screen test every now and then showcasing the difference between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of games - they said Underworld was very different on both consoles:īrighter graphics overall - highlighting detail and texturework I know it's kinda silly to make a thread deadicated to brighness but honestly I can't believe the difference this has made to Underworld's graphics - so I did bit of digging around to ee if the PS3 game looked th same. Thailand looked amazing!!!! - I mean the jungle is so much more alive looking, the clouds in the sky are bright white, the shadows are soft and realistic - on the default settings I couldn't help feel the Thai wilderness was looking alittle too drab and not really all that bright, especially for a daytime locale. Lara's model even looked better, the cutscenes were no longer plagued with that hazey fog over them - instead the contrast, brightness and colours really made them pop liked I've never seen before - It only gets better! In game proper though is where you really see a huge difference - the Kraken's tomb was completely baked in darkness first time I played Underworld, with the brightness up - WOW it really looked so much better!!Īll of the tiny details in those craggy rocks, shiny stairways and massive caverns looked fantastic - I actually couldn't believe I was playing TRU, it looked so much better with defined textures, crisp lighting and moody shadows! Selecting the brightness menu I turned it up by two squares and honestly even here the picture looked alot brighter and more defined! Hey folks, I'm currently going back through TRU on Xbox 360 and the game looked terribly dark on my new HDTV - it's an advanced super view LCD from Sharp, all my other games including Legend looked fabulous on the set!Īfter messing with my tv's setting, which I didn't really want to mess with cause they fit all other games perfectly - I decided it must be the game itself which looked too dim. ![]()
